TIN tests begin

We are starting tests of TIN system with end users. The aim of the tests is to verify system’s functionality related mainly to recordings search and result presentation.

Users have an opportunity to test speech recognition results for a test audio database and search engine which is based on full-text search mechanism. Tests are conducted with recordings typically used by a given user and with metadata specific for a given type of recordings. For instance, for an information phone line recordings, metadata include phone number, duration, date and time of the call. All these pieces of information can be specified as search criteria next to text phrases.

Search query can specify whether all or any of the words given by user must appear in the recording, more precisely in its transcript. Search may preserve or not word order, find recordings in which given words are separated by no more then certain number of other words, include all grammatical forms of the words and use standard thesaurus.

Search results are presented as a list of recordings that satisfy given criteria. For each recording, fragments that contain searched text phrase are marked. User can listen directly to these fragments or to the entire recording. During playback words which are spoken at a given moment are highlighted in the transcript.

For the tests users may either install TIN on their computers after obtaining test license or conduct tests in our laboratory.
